Krista Isaacs is an Assistant Professor of International Seed Systems in the Department of Plant, Soil, and Microbial Sciences at Michigan State University (MSU). She has a PhD from MSU in Crop and Soil Science and a Master’s from Cornell University in International Agriculture and Rural Development. As an interdisciplinary scientist, her scholarly work intersects with agroecology, seed systems, and gender studies to analyze social inequities in agriculture and understand the needs of small-scale producers in order to generate processes that increase food and seed security. She engages with communities directly to understand their problems and address them through participatory processes. She has worked for more than 20 years with small-scale farmers in India, and various countries within Africa and South America.
