Global Orchestration, Rich world—rural: Investment in improved technology for production increases the efficiency of agriculture. Increasing world population leads to expansion of agriculture. Environmental problems are addressed after they have emerged. Good management of nutrients and other agricultural chemicals, water quality, biodiversity, and atmospheric emissions. Periodically, however, ecological problems emerge through accumulation of small-scale trends that are overlooked by the global-scale approaches to governance. Global cooperation to address these challenges is efficient, but sometimes the problems are highly expensive and unmanageable by the time they are recognized.
