2. The health of forest plants.

3. Habitat quality for birds and deer.

4. Woodland productivity for forest products.

STREAMS

1. The chemical characteristics of stream water that help determine how water can be used by plants, animals, and people.

2. The kind and number of living things, other than fish, in a stream.

3. The kind, number, and edibility of fish present in the stream.


LANDSCAPES

1. The environment’s ability to increase or decrease the effects of fire and wind on the region.

2. The environment’s ability to provide habitat for different kinds of wildlife, including game and rare species.

3. The environment’s ability to resist and recover from a variety of disturbances.

4. The environment’s ability to filter and maintain water quality, and to reduce flooding.

5. The diversity and pattern of land cover types (forest, water, agriculture, cities, etc.), and which land cover types are dominant.
