Antonio J. Castro is an ecologist by training. He is an Associate Professor of Social-Ecological Systems at the University of Almeria (Spain) and an Affiliated Faculty at Idaho State University (US). He is overall interested in understanding the complexity of people-nature relations, with the ultimate goal of securing a sustainable future for all life on earth. He has a wide range of research interests, centered on ecological and sociocultural aspects of ecosystem services and their application for landscape planning. He is also interested in the analysis of dynamics and trajectories of socio-ecological systems. He currently serves as Lead Author of the IPBES Global Values Assessment.
