Mario Torralba
I am landscape ecologist that works at the intersection of natural and social sciences working on advancing knowledge towards sustainable transitions in food systems. In particular, I am interested on the use landscape inter- and transdisciplinary research approaches to evaluate the effects that human-nature relationships have on biodiversity, ecosystem services and human well-being. I come from Spain, and studied a BSc in Biology, and a MSc in Ecology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). I later did my PhD at the Department of Landscape Architecture and Planning at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). I also worked as a postdoc at the lab of social-ecological interactions in agro-ecosystems at the Universities of Kassel and Göttingen. I am currently an Assistant Professor at the Environmental Geography Department of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) of VU Amsterdam.
